June Wedding Update: Music, Photographer & More

It’s a little difficult to believe that wedding planning has almost been in full swing for a year now. Matthew proposed in August 2020, and I immediately started planning (can you tell I’m type A?). Fun fact: we booked our venue within two weeks of getting engaged. Matthew was completely stressing, but I had a gut feeling immediately after finding the venue that it was perfect for us. I wanted a really small wedding (50 people max) and our venue provides an intimate atmosphere.

The majority of our vendors are booked: the venue, officiant, music, caterer, photographer, accommodations, etc. The only big decisions left to make is the florals, and then everything else are smaller details to help our vision come to life. Below is my wedding inspiration:

Wedding Dress

I still have butterflies in my stomach from picking up my wedding dress at Ashley Grace Bridal this past weekend. Because I picked out my dress in December 2020, I had six months to overthink and stress about everything that could go wrong. You guys… The dress fits PERFECTLY. I am completely on cloud nine and tearing up just writing this. I am shocked that the only alternations that need to be done is the hem, that’s it! The second I put on the dress I couldn’t stop smiling, it’s exactly what I envisioned getting married in when I was a little girl. I already have my gorgeous Sarah Flint Perfect Sandal for my wedding shoes, so all that’s left is picking out a veil and accessories for the big day.

Rehearsal Dinner

Our rehearsal dinner caterer was one of the first few big decisions we made for our wedding. When we first started planning, we wanted to do tacos and margaritas for the rehearsal dinner. After doing some research, we ultimately decided to change up our plan and go with Currituck BBQ instead. Matthew and I both LOVE barbecue and two seconds into our tasting we were sold. (Read more about our caterers here.)

The rehearsal dinner is going to be super low-key and held at the same venue where the wedding will take place the next day. All of our tables for the reception will be delivered the day of the rehearsal dinner, so we’ll only have to set up all the tables once and only move around slightly for the reception the next day. Matt’s mom is in full rehearsal dinner prep mode, and I cannot wait to see her ideas come to life in November.

Music

We ended up booking Costal DJ for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception. When we first started planning I wanted to book a band for our reception, but after looking at our options and listening to some demos, we decided a DJ was the best option for what we wanted. Costal DJ was incredibly organized and made the process seamless. With other DJ/Band options I kept having to play phone tag, and I was truthfully over it! I barely have time to remember to eat lunch, so I certainly don’t have time to track down vendors day after day.

Photographer

I am so excited that my dear friend Natalie (@nataliemac_photography) will be capturing our wedding. Natalie did such a fantastic job capturing our engagement photos, and we cannot wait to have her capture our big day. I’ve mentioned this before, but Matthew is a little camera shy, so having someone he’s comfortable around makes a huge difference in how the picture turn out. Plus, Natalie is one of the most creative individuals I’ve ever met. She has such an incredible eye for capturing the perfect moments.
