Celebrating Valentine's Day At Home
If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know I LOVE Valentine’s Day! Matt and I normally dress up, go to one of our favorite restaurants, and then open and bottle of Prosecco and watch Valentine’s Day (it takes a lot of convincing to get Matt to watch this movie LOL!). This year looks a little different because we won’t be going out for a romantic dinner. Instead, we plan to order-in to support a local restaurant and stay safe in our apartment. If you’re planning to do the same, I’ve rounded up some fun at-home date night ideas for Valentine’s & Galentine’s Day!
Make Sushi | Matthew bought me a sushi making kit for Christmas, and we’ve had such a blast making our own sushi at home. Sushi is an art forms, so its definitely been trial and error, but we’ve had such a blast trying to refine our skill (AKA trying to make sure it doesn’t fall apart!!)
Bake Together | Have you ever tried to make homemade bagels before? Matthew had a recipe for New York water bagels that we spent one Saturday making (& then eating!) together. They are so much fun to make and are a super tasty treat to enjoy.
FaceTime Wine Night with Galentine’s | FaceTime wine nights with my best friends from college have been one of the biggest things getting me through the pandemic. I love to idea of doing a Galentine’s Day secret Santa with your girlfriends. Use a random name generator where everyone is able to randomly select another member of the group to anonymously send a sweet treat to. Everyone hops on a FaceTime Wine Night, opens the gifts and tries to guess their secret admirer. Highly recommend having everyone watch Parks & Rec season 2, episode 16 beforehand (IYKYK).
Board Games | I am a sucker for a good board game. You can never go wrong with opening a bottle of Champagne and pull our your favorite board game. Some great two person board games are Battleship, Stratego, and Monopoly. If you’re celebrating with your Galentine’s, definitely try out Catan or Ticket to Ride for a good multiplayer game! If you’re celebrating remotely, try out virtual games that can be played anywhere like Jackbox Games.
Make a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie | Make a Valentine’s day Charcuterie filled with your favorite candy and throw on your favorite movie. Growing up, we would occasionally go to the movies as a family. If we were really lucky, my mom would get us a kid’s box with a candy, popcorn and Sprite. This was seriously the only time growing up I ever had candy and soda, so it was truly a treat. This candy charcuterie board is, in my mind, the adult version of this. Run to the store and grab some of your favorite candies, pop some popcorn and you are all set for a Valentine’s Day sugar rush!
